Victoria’s Secret’s Fashion Show gets bigger every year and last night was no different! The angles hit the runway in custom Izquierdo Studio over the top costumes and VS langerie. This year’s show had the most African American Model’s the company has seen in years. Joan Smalls, Anais Mali, Chanel Iman, Emanuela de Paula and Lais Riberiro are just few of the Black Beauties that graced the runway. Even though it is a fashion show, most people tuned in to see the performances, as Kanye performed Stronger & N*ggas in Paris with Jay-z later in the show, and an always colorful Nicki Minaj closed the show with Super Base. I can’t wait to see what VS has in store for next year because this show set the bar pretty high!

Samantha
Heading to class I ran into Samantha and instantly fell in love with her belted red chiffon dress. Her Urban Outfitters hat & bag and vintage african necklace and oxford shoes added the perfect twist to her look. When asked to describe her style in one word the Fashion Business major from Chicago responded “Two-face. One day its girly lace the next day its leather and chains”

Sitting outside of class on Michigan Avenue I saw Whitney and her high waisted oxblood flare pants caught my eye. The Chicago native matched her bold pants with a simple black v-neck and a fitted blazer. With a long necklace, a few bangles and small pearl earrings her look is tied together perfectly. Sunglasses, cream bag and iPod in hand, Whitney is ready to face her Broadcast Journalism class in style.
What is fashion to you? “Its a way of expression…telling someone about yourself without talking to them”
